HISTORY

The ship was built in 1902 in Leiderdorp as a barge, powered by tug boat.

According to the newspaper article below, the ship successfully cooperated in the invasion of Normandy in 1909.
In fairness, we must confess that we still have some questions about this and therefore, we are investigating this further. If you have information about this and want to share it with us, please do so.

More recently, the ship has had even more adventures. In 1990, the ship is owned by a man with a sailing school. Captain on the ship is Willem Merk, also known as Captain Iglo. According to the stories, Willem Endstra approached him if he is in for a transport from Morocco, in collaboration with Johan V. In the summer of 1990, he goes by ship to Morocco to smuggle a load of drugs. The drugs are hidden in the keel. To be precise: in the compartment in front of the water tank. They are caught and the ship is seized. The full story is described in a book by Peter R. de Vries.

When we bought the ship at the end of 2016, it had been sailing as a charter ship for years. Unfortunately, it no longer met the requirements that ships have to meet today. We decided to save the ship from scrapping and rebuild it completely. More than 3 years later the ship will be put back into service.

The interior was demolished, the hull had been reinforced, plates were replaced where necessary and the rigging was adjusted.

The end result is a beautiful ship full of stories.
